SARAS Institute Collaborates in the Construction of Public Policies at the National Level.

Uruguay has developed this past year different initiatives that refer to the elaboration of policies or strategies using a participative approach.

Within this framework, the SARAS Institute has been proactive in different initiatives of the Uruguayan Government such as the Climate Change Adaptation Policies or the National Water Plan.

According to Nestor Mazzeo, Director for Science, SARAS, these participatory events promote modern governance, granting a very active role in the process to participants involved directly or indirectly with these issues. "These opportunities for co-construction are laboratories strongly connected to course of action and research. According to Nestor Mazzeo, this is the reason why SARAS has a special commitment to collaborate and overcome the challenges ahead."

The Climate Change Adaptation Policies provided an opportunity of co-construction for all stakeholders.  Likewise, the National Water Plan, prepared a document where society as a whole and the academic community could make their contributions.
