Contextualization
Objectives
• Cover key aspects of the structure and dynamics of social-ecological systems.
• Analyze critical aspects that ensure the sustainability of ecosystem services, essential for life on this planet and quality of life for humans.
• Understand the main management paradigms (their evolution and history), and to include multidimensionality and uncertainty in the analysis of decision-making processes.
Target audience
The course is aimed at students of all postgraduate courses and government technicians working on topics related to the course contents.
Languages
The course will be taught mostly in Spanish, but some presentations and most of the readings will be in English.
Mode
This edition the course will be fully delivered in-person once a week at our Institute’s headquarters in Bella Vista. There will be no virtual classes. The EVA platform will be used to access study materials only.

Classroom sessions: every Friday from 9am to 1:00pm at SARAS Institute headquarters in Bella Vista, Maldonado, Uruguay.
Teaching staff: Néstor Mazzeo (course director) and a list of national and international guest lecturers.
