The Latin American and Caribbean region has one of the richest renewable energy sources in the world.

According to estimates, exploiting only a small portion of the region’s total capacity of non-hydraulic renewable energy sources would be enough to cover the energy demands of the growing economies of countries in the region. On the other hand, Germany is in the midst of an energy transition, aiming to derive 60% of its energy from renewables by 2050.

The second conference held on energy transition in Latin America and Germany “Good Governance for Energy Transition” took place in the SARAS Institute Headquarters on October 5 and 6, 2016. The aim of this conference was to stimulate the exchange of experiences between experts, academia, entrepreneurs and politicians from Latin America and Germany. The objective was to discuss the advances and the challenges encountered in the dissemination and development of renewable energies.

The conference was organized by SARAS² along with the Regional Program Energy Security and Climate Change in Latin America of the Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung (EKLA-KAS) and the Network of Communication in Climate Change for Latin America (LatinClima).
