The South American Institute for Resilience and Sustainability Studies (SARAS), www.saras-institute.org/en/conozcanos/conozcanos-vision.html, is a transdisciplinary institute located in Uruguay designed to generate critical insights allowing South America to build sustainable futures. It seeks integration across a broad range of knowledge using innovative approaches and integrating social and natural sciences, mathematics and arts.
We are looking for a dynamic, independent manager who enjoys helping to build an exciting new initiative in South America. SARAS promotes the development of scientific knowledge of the mechanisms of socio-ecological systems that affect sustainable use of natural resources and ecosystem services in the long term.
The ideal candidate will have a MBA or similar background, in particular emphasizing sustainability. The capacity to work in Spanish and English and the ability for working with scientists, social scientists and artists are essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Science Director, overseeing the day to day management of the organization, assisting the Science Director in preparing grant applications to foundations and granting agencies, representing SARAS to the international community and to local stakeholders including the government, the university and the business community. SARAS is located near Maldonado, Uruguay and the ideal candidate will be expected to live nearby.
