In 2026, SARAS celebrates 20 years of promoting interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research to address the socio-ecological challenges of Latin America.
To commemorate this anniversary, the Institute will develop a year-long series of activities focused on systemic resilience, bringing together seminars, discussion sessions, graduate courses, and other spaces for exchange.
We invite you to join this series and follow its updates through the SARAS website and social media.
2026 Series of Activities
Throughout 2026, Saras will carry out a comprehensive training and exchange program aimed at strengthening resilient thinking and action related to sustainability and socio-ecological transformations.
The program includes graduate and continuing education courses, seminars, workshops, roundtable discussions, symposia, and other opportunities for reflection and learning. We will address topics such as the management of socio-ecological systems, sustainable transitions in food systems, theories of change, transdisciplinary research, environmental humanities, and current challenges to sustainable development.
The initiative will bring together researchers, faculty members, and national and international leaders to exchange knowledge, experiences, and tools that contribute to understanding and supporting transformation processes toward more just, equitable, and resilient societies.

Foundations for Sustainable Transitions in Uruguay’s Food Systems, with an Emphasis on the Primary Sector
A proposal to understand the main challenges and opportunities of the transition toward more sustainable food systems in Uruguay.
